Clinch River Health Services is offering a series of workshops on Diabetes and Hypertension Prevention and Education. The workshops will be taught by Lifestyle Coaches that received training from UVA’s Center for Diabetes Prevention & Education. The workshops included in the series are:
- Goal setting and strategies to maintain lifestyle changes:
July 16 2021 @ 1 p.m.
Participants will learn what diabetes and prediabetes is and how to prevent it. Exercise recommendations, goal setting and strategies to maintain lifestyle changes, how sleep and stress affect weight. - How to prepare Healthy Foods and Shop Smart to Fill Your Cart:
July 26th 2021 @ 1 p.m.
The goal of this cooking class is to have fun learning new and healthy ways to prepare food, including meal planning Participants will also learn about Nutrition basics, Meal and menu planning, mindful eating, as well as eating away from home. This workshop is full of health dietary tips and recipes to help cut fats and sugars. This workshop will help families build healthier habits by eating right when money is tight. Participants will learn how to stretch their food dollar and budget through healthy choices, as well as learn about community resources that are available to them.
